Let me start by telling you some things! :)
1. Heaven is a FREE gift! It is not something that can be earned or deserved.
2. We are all sinners and we cannot save ourselves.
3. God is a merciful God who doesn't want to punish us but He is also a just God so He must punish sin. But God solved this problem in the person of Jesus Christ!
4. Jesus Christ is the infinite God-man. That means that He is fully God and was fully man. Now what Jesus Christ did for us, He died on the cross and rose from the dead 3 days later! He did that to pay the penalty for sin and to purchase a place in heaven for us! And now He is offering us this gift of eternal life through a saving faith.
5. A couple of things that a saving faith can be mistaken for is a head knowledge and a temporary faith. Head knowledge is when we know who the person is and what they did but we aren't trusting in them for anything. The Bible tells us "You believe there is one God.
Good! Even the demons believe that and shudder!"
Another thing saving faith can be mistaken for is a temporary faith. And that can be when you are praying and trusting God for certain things such as traveling and finances but once things are okay or you've reached your destination your not trusting in Him for that anymore. Now what is a saving faith? It is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life! You have to transfer your trust from yourself and the things your doing to get you into heaven and start trusting in Jesus Christ alone and what He has already done! Now you may say if this is all I have to do why do people do good things? Well, it's like this; if someone gives you something really awesome you want to do all you can to show them gratitude for what they've done for you. That is what we want to do for Jesus!

"Lord Jesus, thank You for Your gift of eternal life. I know I'm a sinner and do not deserve eternal life. But You loved me so You died and rose from the grave to purchase a place in Heaven for me. I now trust in You alone for eternal life and repent of my sin. Please take control as Lord of my life. Thank you so much!"
